What an open day looks like at Pearson College London
Our Open Days usually begin with an introductory welcome talk which consists of a brief overview of Pearson College London such as the history behind our institution and why we’re different to your more traditional university choices.
You'll then have the opportunity to attend a subject talk with our tutors. These provide a deeper insight into our course offerings and what modules you could study.
After this, we run Q&A panels with alumni and student ambassadors. This is where you'll get to ask all your questions about student life and what it's really like to study with us.
Throughout the day, you'll also get the opportunity to go on a campus tour and explore our facilities.
How to prepare
It’s better to prepare before you come to an open day, so you can make the most out of it!
Here are some of my tips:
- Look at the prospectus and find out about all the different courses we offer.
- Note down questions of things you don’t understand, so you can ask us at the event.
- Plan your journey e.g., book bus/train tickets.
- Look at accommodation around the campus.
On the day
It's easy to shy away and stand behind everyone else but make sure you come in confidently and ask all the questions you wanted to ask. Don’t leave without feeling content with all the information you have.
When you’re here, talk to the student ambassadors. You’ll easily be able to locate us because of our bright blue or orange tops! Ask us anything from accommodation options to course experience. Remember no question is a stupid one and that we’re always here to help.
Here are some questions you can ask us:
- What subject do you study?
- What do you like most about your course?
- What do you like most about studying at Pearson College London?
- What are the exams/assignments like?
It's also a good idea to have a chat with other students at the event, get to know them and what pathway they want to go down. You never know who you might bump into on campus!
After the event
Waaaaaaaaaait! You probably want to go home after such a long day, but don’t go just yet!
How about you scope out the area first and find places that you would like to go to if you were a student here. P.S we’re a 5 minute walk away from Covent Garden!
Reflect on what you’ve learnt at the event. Do you like the University? Is it up to your expectations? Did you feel welcomed? All these questions are important when thinking about which university to go to because you need to feel happy and safe. Don’t force feelings, go with your gut.
Don’t forget to follow us on social media and be the first to know about any upcoming events.
