We sat down with 2nd year VFX student, Cameron Shanks, to ask him about his experience applying to Escape Studios through UCAS Clearing.
What course are you currently studying?
I’m currently studying BA (Hons) The Art of Visual Effects at Escape Studios.
How did you find the Clearing process as a whole?
The process was a little bit stressful; however, Pearson College London guided me through the process and helped me overcome all the little hiccups I experienced.
What factors helped your decision in choosing Pearson College London?
It seemed like the perfect choice for getting into the industry. Not only is it a part of a FTSE 100 company located in London, but it has amazing connections to industry! The tutors do as much as they can to help you get your foot in the door and gain as much experience as possible (e.g. through internships and industry guests).
How has your university experience been? Are you enjoying your course?
I have really enjoyed my time at Escape Studios so far. I love that it's a small community and growing bigger each year. All the students and staff are friendly and welcoming.
Has your course supported your career ambitions?
Absolutely - we get feedback from industry professionals on most projects, which is always insightful to help us continually improve. Not only this, but our tutors also have previous experience in industry, and hearing their previous experiences is inspiring.
If you had to sum up your time at Pearson College London in one word, what would it be and why?
It’s Industry-driven. Studying here is a truly unique university experience that actually seems to prepare you for getting a job once you graduate. Plus, the facilities are actually very good.
What would your advice be to others who are going through or considering clearing:
Take your time and be patient. It can be stressful for everyone. So be tenacious but try to keep your cool.
