As you may know, Escape Studios ran the first part of The VFX Festival 2019 back in February, which was called VFX Festival Emerging Talent. This event was for university students to get a chance to speak to studios and listen to talks from industry professionals regarding various different elements of some of the best visuals in television and film.

The VFX Festival Emerging Talent was a sell-out event, with over 500 young creators attending over two days!

Coming this June, we have the second part of The VFX Festival 2019, which is split into three different areas:

VFX Festival EDU

On 4th and 5th June 2019, The VFX Festival EDU will open doors for school and college students who would love to learn more about the world of VFX, Games and Animation during inspiring talks. Programme

09:30 - Doors open / Check in

10:30 - 11:15 - Jay Short, Inition - Technology - Beyond The Hype

It is said that we will experience more change in the next ten years than in the previous 200. We are living in a time of unrivalled innovation. However we need to proceed with caution and understand where true value lies and how much of the talk is either hype or irrelevant to our industries.

11:30 - 12:15 - Sander van der Vegte, MediaMonks - A look Inside the Lab: the Weird and Wonderful World of Unexpected Results

The beauty of research is stumbling upon unexpected results — and seeing where they can lead you. We might’ve missed out on the slinky if it wasn’t for a fortuitous mishap in a naval engineers research. Using and abusing emerging tech to stretch the boundaries of what’s possible can return funny, insightful, and often times just plain weird results. In this talk, head of R&D and innovation group MediaMonks Labs, Sander van der Vegte, opens the doors to the lab to show which cutting-edge technologies will change the creative industries, and how emerging technologies can add value to a wide variety of industries.

13:15 - 14:00 - Guest Speaker TBC, Framestore (Immersive Team) - Immersive interactive experiences and trends in VR

Framestore VR Studio combines highly immersive interactive experiences with Oscar-winning visuals. The studio is uniquely placed as the first and most awarded Virtual Reality studio in the world, bringing Hollywood calibre visuals to the theatre of immersion.

14:15 - 15:15 - Panel Discussion - The future of skills and technology

Our guest speakers will focus on the wealth of changes taking place in the creative industries and how these elements are diversifying and changing to adapt to the future.
