Escape Studios is a specialist institution tailored to preparing you for a career in the creative industries. If you're willing to put in the time, passion and hard work necessary, we can promise you a highly vocational, industry-focused training experience, giving you the skills you need to graduate job-ready. If that's not enough for you, here's 7 reasons why you should make Escape Studios your firm choice by next week (the deadline 1st May).

1. Location

Escape Studios, located in Central London, is within walking distance of some of London's biggest studios, putting you in a prime position for work experience and internships. Not only this, sometimes studios set students a live brief and as part of your final grade, you will complete a project for a professional studio that will be used!

2. Industry Events

Escape Studios runs Industry Events with artists who can show you how they did certain things on certain films.

For example, an event series that we call "An evening with..." which sees an artist from a studio come in and enrich students with knowledge and ideas that they can adapt and develop for their own reels.

Another example is when Escape Studios invites industry guests in such as when Royce Wesley, an Animator at Pixar, came to speak to students about his experiences and career in Animation. He presented the power of animation, how it's used at Pixar, and he also took the time to critique some of our students' work too.

3. Internships and Feedback

The access to Escape Studios' industry partners opens up huge avenues of opportunity for internship schemes and ultimately job roles. Students on our advanced courses benefit from industry feedback sessions with our industry partners, while all students have the opportunity to attend industry talks, as well as events aimed at helping you to network with creative companies, talk to recruiters and showcase your showreels.

For example, the Art Director at Climax Studios, Saul Marchese, recently gave feedback to our Game Art class’ projects.

4. Career Avenues

Our alumni (Escapees) have gone on to do some fantastic projects! Some examples of recent alumni success stories are:

  • Advanced Compositing for Visual Effects - Ricardo Musch - The Jungle Book

  • Video Game Art Production - Tom Harle - Gears of War: Ultimate Edition

"Escape Studios gave me the confidence to trust in my work and get my first job in the industry a few months after leaving."

  • Advanced 3D for Visual Effects - Simone Ciliani - Kingsman: the Golden Circle, Thor Ragnarok and Paddington 2

"I learnt how to work in a team, share passion and ideas. I learnt how hard it is to deliver in a deadline. Escape was essential for my career."

  • Maya Core (Animation) - Marc Godfrey - Tree Fu Tom (a CBeebies show)

"My time at Escape Studios was inspiring."

We have also recently seen Escapees working on Black Panther and First Man, which were nominated for Oscar and BAFTA awards!

That could be you one day!

5. Festivals

One of the biggest events in the calendar, every year Escape Studios hosts the VFX, Games and Animation Festival. Now in its 7th year, it's known as a celebration of the creative industries and a showcase of talent. The VFX Festival brings a range of industry partners to a key location in London (this year it was the Southbank Centre) to set up exhibition stands and talk to students about careers. Even better, they deliver talks about films they have worked on and participate in panel discussions about industry topics, right in front of your eyes.

If Games are your thing, we run an annual Game Jam where students are put into groups and are given a theme. They then get 48 hours to create a game to present back to a panel of experts, including our Head of Games Simon Fenton, who worked in senior lead roles on nine published titles including Total NBA ’97, This is Football, Getaway, Black Monday, Kinetic, Kinetic Combat and Sony Playstation Home.

6. Student Experience

"We work hard so that your experience is more than just studying. We want you to feel a part of our Escape Community, through events designed with our students in mind" - Martina Sargiacomo, Head of Student Experience at Escape Studios

The community at Escape Studios is super important to ensure that you meet like-minded individuals that you can collaborate with on projects. The Student Experience team also run a variety of events such as movie nights, where Escape Students can have pizza and refreshments and watch a movie all together! Not only this, but the campus has breakout areas and kitchens where you can have lunch and talk to friends about social activities outside of your studies.

And a bonus - unlimited tea and coffee!

7. Expert Tutors

All Escape Studios tutors have had industry experience in some way, shape or form and are experts in their field. The tutors have long lists of previous films and games they have worked on, from Harry Potter to How to Train your Dragon. Did you know that our Head of Animation, Alex Williams, was the Lead Animator for the character of Scar in the original The Lion King?!
