As we head into UCAS season, it's important to know what your options are to allow you to start comparing institutions for your higher education. Pearson College London itself is a career-focused institution, split into two sub-schools: Pearson Business School and Escape Studios.

At Escape Studios, we offer undergraduate, postgraduate and short courses in Visual Effects (VFX), Game Art, Animation and Motion Graphics. Do you have raw talent and big aspirations? If you're willing to put in the time, passion and hard work necessary, we can promise you a highly vocational, industry-focused training experience, giving you the skills you need to graduate job-ready. If that's not enough for you, here's 7 more reasons you should consider Escape Studios.

1. Location

Escape Studios, located in Central London, is within walking distance of some of London's biggest studios, putting you in prime position for work experience and internships. Not only this, it makes it super easy for companies to come to you. As a student, your work will often have the opportunity to be reviewed by experts and sometimes they even deliver demos or critique showreels.

2. Industry Opportunities

The access to Escape Studios' industry partners opens up huge avenues of opportunity for internship schemes and ultimately job roles. Students on our advanced courses benefit from industry feedback sessions with our industry partners, while all students have the opportunity to attend industry talks, as well as events aimed at helping you to network with creative companies, talk to recruiters and showcase your showreels.

This kind of industry input helps students graduate ready for the world of work, with the skills and qualities they need for a successful, long-term career.

3. Career Avenues

Our alumni (Escapees) have gone on to do some fantastic projects! Some examples of recent alumni success stories are:

  • Advanced Compositing for Visual Effects - Ricardo Musch - The Jungle Book

  • Video Game Art Production - Tom Harle - Gears of War: Ultimate Edition

"Escape Studios gave me the confidence to trust in my work and get my first job in the industry a few months after leaving."

  • Advanced 3D for Visual Effects - Simone Ciliani - Kingsman: the Golden Circle, Thor Ragnarok and Paddington 2

"I learnt how to work in a team, share passion and ideas. I learnt how hard it is to deliver in a deadline. Escape was essential for my career."

  • Maya Core (Animation) - Marc Godfrey - Tree Fu Tom (a CBeebies show)

"My time at Escape Studios was inspiring."

That could be you one day!

4. Festivals and Showcases

Throughout the year, Escape Studios runs festivals and showcases for you to get involved with outside the classroom.

The VFX Festival brings a range of industry partners to a location (this year it was the Southbank Centre) to set up exhibition stands and talk to students about careers. Even better, they deliver talks about specific films they have worked on and participate in panel discussions about industry topics, right in front of your eyes.

Showcases are run throughout the year by the Student Experience team at Escape Studios and this gives students the opportunity to showcase reels, portfolios and demos to professionals and experts. You get advice there and then to improve your work and make it studio-ready.

If Games are your thing, we run an annual Game Jam whereby students are put into groups and given a theme. You will then get 48 hours to create a game to present back to a panel of experts, including Head of Games Simon Fenton, who worked in senior lead roles on nine published titles including Total NBA ’97, This is Football, Getaway, Black Monday, Kinetic, Kinetic Combat and Sony Playstation Home.

5. Student Experience

"We work hard so that your experience is more than just studying. We want you to feel a part of our Escape Community, through events designed with our students in mind" -** Martina Sargiacomo, Head of Student Experience at Escape Studios**

The community at Escape Studios is super important to ensure that you meet like-minded individuals that you can collaborate on projects with. Escape Studios also has its own merchandise: jumpers, hats, t-shirts and even mugs. The branding not only looks good, but actually helps students to feel part of the community!

6. Expert tutors

All Escape Studios tutors have had industry experience in some way, shape or form and most are experts in their field. The tutors have long lists of previous films and games they have worked on, from Harry Potter to How to Train your Dragon. Did you know that our Head of Animation, Alex Williams, was the Lead Animator for the character of Scar in the original The Lion King?

7. Software Heaven!

At Escape Studios, you are exposed to all kinds of software to bring your ideas to life on screen. And guess what? We have it all ready for you in our studios!
