With the UCAS deadline rapidly approaching (in 10 days to be precise!), here’s 10 reasons why you should get your application in before the 15th January deadline…
1. We’re connecting classroom to industry
As the only FTSE 100 company delivering degrees in the UK, we have an amazing connection with our industry partners. Not only did they help to create our degrees to form unique programmes to fill the skills shortages in the workplace, but they also regularly come in to visit, delivering Student Conferences, industry challenges and exciting talks.
Did you know that in the first week of studying with us, our 2018 cohort got the opportunity to present to Vodafone? Or that later in the year they were given a business challenge from Levi Roots and a presentation and Q&A session from Microsoft? ...and that’s just a handful of the unique opportunities our students get to experience (and add to the CV’s and LinkedIn!)
2. You’ll be taught by experts
All of our tutors have come from a business, law, marketing or accounting background - meaning they have first hand experience of working in the industry, which are insights they bring to the classroom for our students to learn about too. Here are just a few examples of what our tutors have done in the past:
Will Holt: Dean of Pearson Business School and Accounting tutor
Will is a former Chartered Accountant, having worked in the insolvency and assurance teams at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Simon Hall: Business School tutor
Simon is a former Chief Marketing Officer at Dell UK with around 25 years’ experience in Information Technology and Services, as well as Telecommunications and Multimedia. He has also worked in senior positions for Microsoft, Toshiba and Philips.
John Clifford: Head of Law programs
John has been working in Higher Education management for over 25 years and specialises in Medical Law, Tort Law and Public Injury.
David Atkinson: Business School tutor
Leading on lectures and seminars for our Marketing modules, David holds Chartered Marketer status and is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). He previously worked as a Strategic Marketing Director.
3. You’ll get a Guaranteed Internship*
All of our full-time students are guaranteed an internship, which usually takes place in the summer of your second year. Previously our students have interned at Bloomberg, Saatchi & Saatchi, L’Oreal and many more. Many of our students studying Business Management with Global Industries have also completed their internships abroad, which has been helped by our partnerships with large international companies and our dedicated internship team.

4. You’ll get to experience student life in the capital (aka London)
Not only do we have an amazing student association (also known as the PCSA), but being a student at Pearson College London means you’ll also have access to Student Central, just a 10 minute walk away from campus. Our Central London location also means that when you’re not studying, there's no end to the fun things to enjoy with your friends, so check out our ten fun finds within 10 minutes of campus.
5. You could have the option to accelerate
Subject to academic performance and a minimum cohort, you may have the option to accelerate your degree and complete the course in two years (rather than three). This is achieved by studying over the summer of your first and second year.
6. Our graduates earn an average of £25,000
This is much higher than the national average median salary for Business and administrative studies, which is £21,000 (data taken from HESA). Plus, 94.8% of our 2017 graduates are in further work or study.
In addition to this, our graduates have used the knowledge they have gained from industry to work for the likes of Dyson, Snapchat, Microsoft, the BBC and many more. Check out some of our Alumni success stories here.
7. You’ll study in small class sizes
Our unique style of campus of being within a FTSE 100 company means we do things a little differently. Our classrooms and study spaces are designed to mirror what you’d expect in the workplace, so not only does this come with benefits such as free tea and coffee, but also adaptable classroom spaces. Why not take an online tour of our campus to see for yourself!
Our lecture rooms can hold a maximum of 100 people, but can be adapted for smaller lecture classes too. Our seminar classrooms hold no more than 30 students and aim to encourage students to learn pro-actively through group tasks and interactive sessions that help you to get the most out of your learning.
8. Online Learning Platform
As a partner of Pearson, we have a huge online library service available for students to access. Essential and recommended reading will be listed under your tasks to complete before each seminar, as well as a wealth of other online resources - so you won’t need to spend anything on textbooks. All of this is found through our Online Learning Platform, Blackboard.
However, it doesn’t stop there, as you will also be able to view past lectures and powerpoints on our OLE, as all lectures are recorded and available for you to look back on - making it very useful when it comes to revision.
9. Our courses have Professional Accreditations and exemptions
We know that employers look for much more than just a degree, which is why we’ve included professional accreditations with some of our courses. Not only will this help you to stand out from the crowd, but it will also help you in pursuing your career after you graduate. The accredited courses include:
- Professional Accounting in Business - ACCA accredited with exemptions from ACCA, ICAEW and CIMA
- Business Management with Finance - Association of Chartered Certified Accountants accredited
- Law Professional Legal Practice, Law with Accounting and Law with Business - Solicitors Regulation Authority accredited
10. Opportunities for Entrepreneurs
In your first year, you’ll get the chance to set up your own business to get a first hand idea of everything that must be considered. If your business is successful, and you decide that this is something you’d like to pursue, we’re happy for you to do so. You may even get the opportunity to switch to our Professional Pathway to help maintain and run your business whilst still completing your degree.
To continue to encourage entrepreneurship, we also have our own business incubator. This is where we allow a small start up company office space within our campus in exchange for helping our students get inside knowledge on all areas of a business, from their accounts, to legal considerations, marketing campaigns and much more.
