Life can be extremely stressful, especially in London. The rush of life, deadlines, pressure to do everything everyone wants you to do, doing what you need to do and seeing a constant list of things that we need to do getting longer and longer. It can all just get too much. Which is why I feel we need to make more time to de-stress.
Everybody has a different way of relaxing and de-stressing, so below I’ve listed a few of the things that can be done in the capital to reduce stress and have some fun!
- Theatre Shows and Cinemas - Taking some time out to see a show at either a theatre or cinema is certainly one of my favourite ways to relax. To find out what’s being shown you can look online or look in one of the free newspapers. If you are on a budget and not too fussy about what you go to see or where you are sitting buying tickets on the day for the theatre can save quite a bit of money indeed. As for the cinema check your local cinemas website to see if they have a cheap Tuesday (or equivalent) showing.
- Parks and Gardens - Perhaps for a more tranquil and peaceful way to relax and destress would be to have a wander through the many parks and gardens in London. Providing a calmer atmosphere these would be great places to destress. My two favourites growing up has to be either Kew Gardens near Richmond, Danson Park in Bexleyheath or Greenwich Park in Greenwich. One a nice day sitting outisde, listening to music, reading a book or just watching the world go by is a great way to escape for a couple hours.
- Pubs Bars and Clubs - For the more extroverted people that like to be surrounded by people then why not head out to one of the many bars or pubs that are dotted around London. Normally serving good food, cheap drinks and hosting a great atmosphere they are a great way to socialise, hear some good music and have a fun time! Popular spots include Simmons Bar in Kings Cross or Junkyard Golf in Shoreditch.
- Museums and Galleries - London is full of interesting museums and galleries that can be visited. Most of these are also free and means that it is Beverly budget friendly and those that do charge is a rather small fee. Museums and galleries that can be visited include The Natural History Museum, Science Museum, National Maritime Museum, Transport Museum, National Gallery, Tate Modern and The National Portrait Gallery to Name just a few of them.
These are just some of the different ways you can let your hair down in the capital and take some 'me' time to de-stress and relax for a bit. So get out there and start relaxing!
